The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has initiated an investigation into Tesla's Full Self-Driving (FSD) feature following a fatal accident involving a pedestrian. This probe examines four separate incidents where FSD-equipped vehicles were involved in crashes. Notably, one incident resulted in a pedestrian's death, while another led to injuries. Each accident occurred when the cars encountered reduced roadway visibility conditions such as sun glare, fog, or dust.

Tesla's FSD, a crucial element for its growth strategy, is offered as an $8,000 option, necessitating driver readiness to assume control. Despite assertions from Tesla and its CEO about FSD's safety, concerns persist. Previously, investigations have highlighted potential unsafe maneuvers by the FSD Beta system at intersections.

Amid discussions on future self-driving vehicles, the investigation underscores ongoing scrutiny of Tesla's autonomous driving advancements.
